I am very pleased to added this very fine all steel bow to my collection. This particular example is coming from the ex Roy Elvis collection . The condition of this bow is superb almost all the gold koftgari remains intact, which I may add is of the highest quality. The steel has a wonderful blue hue to it that is just mesmerizing. The quality of the steel is top notch and rings like a bell. The bow is superbly balanced and amazingly light. It has two slabs of stag antler that make up the grip that is riveted by four pins. The construction of the piece is outstanding. I would date this bow to the 19th century and coming from Lahore or Rajasthan . There is a photo of another example that sold at auction that is almost identical to my example. I have included it in my photos for comparison.

This massive cleaver -like implement has a very massive curved blade that is embellished with an inlaid strip of engraved brass on either side of the blade with more engraving creating a border. There is a very well chiselled Makara head at the base of the blade. The hilt is turned from a solid piece of steel, very heavy! I am pleased to add to my collection this very fine and rare gilded silver locket or scabbard fitting for a dagger. The workmanship is outstanding on this little jewel! The piece is engraved on both sides with fine, Mughal-inspired poppy blooms, and decorated top and bottom ( both side unusual to decorate the back side) with fine gilded silver applied wire work in the form of stylized poppy motifs filled with glass or semi precious stones. This fine piece survives as a particularly fine example of early Deccani silverwork .

I am very pleased and excited to add this fantastic Berdysh/Bartiche to my collection. The piece is in excellent overall condition. This example is very large!! The axe head is 36 inches long , with the tang a massive 60 inches. Overall 80 inches a monster. This also has a huge armor piercing tip . This is a rare item not encountered very often. I know here in the Untied States there are Two at the Met one in Cleveland and one at the Art institute in Chicago. I believe this one is from Russia with a Turkish inscription. This Berdysh may have been in the battle of Vienna 1683 .

A wonderful kard made out of very good wootz. With a very rare hilt made out of Zebra Jasper. I think the reason we seldom see this material used in hilts is it tends to fracture making it difficult to work with. The blade has the typical t-back spine with the pointy tip. Very well made piece, the hilt scales are attached with five pins.

A massive armor piercing tip is the main feature of this wonderful katar a whopping 27mm thick !! The side bars and grips are decorated in very fine gold koftgari of a pattern of vegetal and flora meandering thought out the piece, simply superb. There is a very fine inscription inlaid in gold in the fuller in free-flowing nasta ‘liq script in Urdu one inscription is more readable and says “ it is true that hopelessness from God’s grace/mercy is disbelief” The other side is not so clear but Sarkar is the first word and means ‘lord or ‘Commander. After this it says’Sher Shaker’ which means ‘tiger/lion Hunter’. The rest is untranslated at this time. This katar is accompanied by a very fine scabbard . With solid silver mounts that are pierced and chased 0n either side with pairs of regardant peacocks on the throat piece and parrots on the chape. The workmanship is outstanding ! Remnants of the green velvet remains in the protected areas beneath the silver mounts , the exposed areas are now sadly gone. On a side note the sidebar on top of the blade looks to be decorated in Tiger stripes? I found this odd at first before I had the inscription read , but now it makes more sense. All in all a wonderful katar in fantastic original condition surely owned by a wealthy person of means.

I am pleased to add to my collection this beautiful Katar from the Vijayanagara Empire. This piece dates to the early 17th century . The blade appears to be a cutdown blade from a European sword with an inscription that reads “ Nasrun min Allah, wa fat’hun kareeb” “Help from Allah and a near Victory”. I can assume that this katar was captured by forces from the Islamic Sultans from the North. I also believe it was at this time the gold was added in the North. There is an almost identical example in the Metropolitan museum of Art , No. 36.25.1020. It can be found on page 158 item no. 15.30 in Hindu Arms And Ritual by Robert Elgood. I believe this katar to be a Royal Vijayanagara katar. The langets are shaped like two Yail in bird form, their tails meeting in a palmette form . It holds three rivets that hold the blade. The carving on this piece is superb .

A complete Monster ! This kard has no rivals!!! This guy is a whopping 1/2 inch thick, 1 ¾ wide ! 19 ¼ inches in the scabbard. 6 inches around @ the hilt.. The massive elephant scales are pinned with hidden pins . A unusual makers mark I haven’t seen before. The blade is expertly forged with a Japanese style temper line (harmon) . The kard weighs in @ 1.1 lb.. without the scabbard..lol

This is a fine Moro Kris with a superb and massive Jungayyan Hilt Finley carved out of ivory . The hilt measures 7 ¼ inches a monster of a hilt. This fine kris was meant for a chieftain (Datu) as it exudes power and beauty. The condition of the pommel is gem mint! Most Moro kris with these oversized Jungayyan pommels have suffered some kind of damage , it's rare to find them so perfect !

I am pleased to add to my collection a rare Mongolian sword in fine silver repousse' inlaid with turquoise , coral and jade in the most magnificent way. The layout of the design is simply stunning! I'm mesmerized by the way the piece flows, with clouds and vegetal theme that just melts into one cohesive masterpiece. It literally wraps around the whole scabbard as if someone just poured it onto the scabbard. There are four dragons encircling the flaming jewel of knowledge in one section of the upper scabbard so beautifully done. In the center there are two dragons chasing a carved round jade disc inlaid with a floral group of coral. ok let me stop! forgive my inadequacies to verbally convey my thoughts just look at the photos they say it all. What you can't see is just how massive this piece is in hand. The sword weighs in at an astounding 6 3/4 pounds. Now for the blade that is fantastic on its own. 2 1/2 inches at the widest point 23 inches long, four perfect fullers cut into the blade that terminate into two large fullers that form a trident. The steel looks like a very fine crucible steel with a fine watering . The hilt is carved from a massive piece of blueish green jade with gray rustic streaks running through the piece, very attractive and a felling of an ancient piece of stone! There is almost an identical sword in Runjeet Singh catalogue Arms & Armour from the East 2016 . I put a photo at the end please take the time and compare the two I am sure you will come to the same conclusion as I did that they are from the same workshop.

This is a very rare bazuband and I am very pleased to have added it to my collection. I believe that this Bazuband is either Persia or Ottoman, that has been decorated in the Caucasian style. The silver brads (nails) the silver rings and silver bands attached along the edges, point us in this direction of thinking. There are remnants of gold decorations that can be seen under the deep patina. This piece is made more rare owing to the fact that it has only a Large plate with a single (One ) small plate attached by silver mail , most have two small plates. The buckles and attachment plates are all crafted in silver.

This is a really fine Shamshir coming from the Kutch with a fine serrated shamshir blade, with a inlayed gold cartouche . The mounts are simply stunning. The pierced Flora design is so well executed, and flows from the tip to the top of the hilt. The mounts are all copper that was once all gold gilt. There is still remnants of the gold in the recesses. The condition is superb. I can only imagine what it must of looked like back in the day!

I am very pleased to have had the good fortune to find this Rare combination Gupti (cane) percussion weapon and dagger all in one. The piece is superbly engraved as well as full coverage of silver koftgari. The piece is sectioned into four pieces , a pistol , rifle, dagger and a cane. There is also two small compartments one for primers the other maybe balls or patches not 100% sure. The construction is superb top notch ! My personal feelings is this may have been made for the Durbar Exhibition of 1877, showing off the excellent craftsmanship associated with the top weapon maker in India at that time. I believe that this type of item would have been made for the very wealthy and targeting the European (British) and the Maharajahs.

This is a very unusual tribal axe in the fact that it is smothered in a very heavy layer of silver I think the thickest I have ever seen. The construction is superb! The edge is razor sharp. I have a feeling that this axe may of been a commission piece by a wealthy South Indian warrior that was just in love with the design. There is a Farsa that is Illustrated in a miniature attributed to 1654 in the Padshahnama which was clearly not made for a tribal leader but someone of importance. There is another example in the Livrustkammaren, the Royal Armory, Stockholm, inscribed in gold with the name of the Persian ruler Shah Safi II (1629-42) . This would have me believe that these tribal axes were admired by many. That brings us to dating this piece is easily 18th century but it may very well be 17th century.

This Persian Khanjar is truly a masterpiece from the Qajar period (1789-1925) The hilt on this piece is masterfully and intricately carved out of Walrus. The details are clean and fine and the composition is expertly conveyed. The condition is superb.The hilt is massive on this particular example @ 5 inches around it is quite impressive. It was believed that the marble like inner part of the tusk is thought to help in wound healing. This being one of the reason for the extensive use of Walrus ivory in sword and dagger hilts.The blade is outstanding on this piece with the original polish still untouched. The Wootz is of high quality of good contrast and pattern. The piece overall is large at 15 1/2 inches. And commands the presents of the room truly a rare Khanjar among many.

South Indian axe with a fantastic crescentic axe-blade with multiple feature another crescent shaped blade attached to a dagger blade creating a fantastic visual affect just stunning! , engraved along the back-edge with foliage and linear ornament, five-sided socket chiselled with a leaf at the base of the blade, The degree of engraving is above average and very precise and clean. I believe this axe head was for a chieftain or someone of stature in his tribe , because of the elaborate design of the axe head this axe was a prestige item more than a weapon There is a catalog number on the the piece from the Roy Elvis collection .

This is a fantastic piece for many reasons ! First the pure and very simplistic design is simply amazing . The lines are so clean and so well executed conveying a warm and holistic feeling. The mounts are mimicking a traditional Japanese Tanto. Visually at first glance one could mistake the piece as being Japanese but no this was crafted by the Ainu an ethnic group of related indigenous peoples native to Northern Japan. The mounts made of wood , horn (Stagg) and Ratan that’s it. Please look at the photos I am sure you will see what I see amazing craftsmanship. The next thing that sets this Ainu piece apart from other Ainu pieces is the fact that it has a fine traditional Japanese tanto blade from around 1570 signed Sukesada Bizen school. This may have been traded for or could have been a gift. This fine blade completes the package. I believe these are rare and with the added blade extremely rare to find in this configuration.

Fantastic Fighting axe coming from Jaisalmer Rajasthan 18th century. A wonderfully thick little fighting axe with thick silver and gold koftgari on the shoulders. So crisp and clean the blade rings like a bell razor sharp!! It has an old scabbard with it . This must of been someone’s prize possessions.

A walking-stick gun made of steel overlaid with gold. It transforms into a three-section gun with sprung percussion action and concealed sprung trigger cocked by pulling the handle back. The barrel section unscrews to reveal a percussion nipple. The handle is in the form of a Tiger or Lion. The condition of the piece is exceptional the gold is thick and intact. The Tigers head has a wonderful articulating tongue really a neat feature showcasing the artist skill. I would have to assume that whomever owned this piece was someone of means and standing in the community . A similar walking-stick gun made of steel overlaid with gold is in The Royal Collection Trust I have left a link at the bottom of the page. It was presented to King Edward VII when the Prince of Wales during his tour of India 1875-76 . this helps date this piece as well probably made in Bundi.

A fine example of an early 19th century Khula Khud. The steel bowl of this Qajar helmet is divided into Six panels, exquisitely carved in relief in flowerheads and winding vine tendrils inlayed in thick silver. That having six cartouches with carved scenes of hunting on horse back. With the palace in the foreground quite the idyllic scene. All outlined in fine gold inlay. Below the panels there is six cartouches of calligraphy expertly carved in relief and again inlayed with gold stunning! A tall conical spike rounds out the top. There is of course two plume holders and a fine and engraved nasal bar. The steel mail of the helmet is interspersed with brass rings creating a pleasant geometrical design. A very neat caveat to this Khula Khud is the original liner and also the nice red padding that are almost always missing!

I have never seen an Nanban all steel fitting koshirae before with well over thirty years of collecting! This is a truly rare find all en-suite in superb condition. The steel fitting exhibit little or no rust with almost all the gold present. The cloud and dragon motif is superbly executed through out the entire piece. Much more research is needed on this item. Peter Dekker has a wonderful article on Nanban Tsuba & Asian export sword guards on his website Mandarin Mansion Antiques I highly recommend reading his articles as they are well written and full of good information. Whoever owned this koshirae in the past must of know how rare and wonderful this piece is because of the condition.

This is a very interesting piece likely 19th century with a very unusual blade with a configuration I have not seen before. This Khanjar is made out of fine wootz with Tears of the Afflicted feature. Also the recurved blade is very unique and scary sharp! The hilt is the only familiar feature with the parrot shaped hilt. The koftgari is very nice and presents well.

This is fine all wootz axe with a dark hardwood haft, with a long tang attached by steel rivets with flora shaped washers. The axe head has a very pleasant shape almost futurist in design. The fullering is very elegant and precise the whole axe exudes quality.This particular example is quite large at 34 1/2 inches.

A wonderful Saddle axe Late 18th century early 19th century with the most fine Silver Koftgari in superb condition . It has an old catalog number or museum number, the haft has a very fine and lustrous patina.

Here we have a classic example of a fine wootz Tabarzin (axe) from India. This example is very robust all business. The wootz head is thick 3/4 in. at its wildest point on the base of the head. Remnants of fine gold koftgari border the edges of the axe head. The haft looks to be copper that was once covered in gold. A thin gold thread is now wound on the middle of the haft . This is a fine example.

I am very pleased to share a very fine Persian Axe from the 18th century coming from Iran. The engraving is superbly done. There is a very similar example in Islamic Arms and Armour by Robert Elgood page 121 figure 126 (Bayerische’s Armed Museum, Ingolstadt) but the composition of my axe is so much more refined and precise in the engraving. The gold and inscription is equally well executed. The haft is encased in embossed silver sheet that has traces of gold guilt left in protected recessed areas. This is a fine example.

I am pleased to share my very fine Pattissa (khanda) this is one of the oldest forms of swords of India. This type sword is held very dear to the Sikhs, it is rich in their History. Sikh Guru Gobind Singh used a very similar one. This example has a very fine wootz blade that is scary sharp! The hilt is of typical form with hollow dish pommel with a sphere as a finial, very classic and elegant. There is traces of fine engraving on the hollow dish pommel. The langets are fused together with the guard in a very pleasing architectural design. There is a rare scabbard with this example more than likely not original to the sword but of good age if I had to guess late 18th century.

This is a very good example of a South Indian Kattar. It is outfitted with a European blade (cut down Rapier) that has been burnished to a mirror finish. This is a common thing coming from Bikaner Armory . Also the inventory marks three of them, bi 514, bi 169 and 30 why the three inventory marks is lost to history? Maybe an attempt to re-catalog the Armory inventory?

A very elegant and stylistic Bazuband with simple clean precise lines that create an elegant atmosphere . Consisting of two plain curved steel plates hinged together, fastened with two long iron pins. There is an appliqué serrated band welded on the border to strengthen the guard. !7th/18th century

I am so excited to have this wonderful Kapwah in my collection. This example is still crisp and solid. Most of the gold has been lost unfortunately, but the lines are still very defined. There is an almost identical example in the Furusiyya Art Foundation collection I have enclosed a photo of it .The shape is very similar but our example has more detail for example an elephant head that forms the base of the knucklebow The other side ends in a goat head and the end of the knucklebow terminates into a horse head. The blade is of watered steel with a thickened point.

This fine gold mounted Kukri is quite large at 17 1/2 in. overall. The gold is finely worked in a bird and flora motif. Even the bolsters are solid gold. The blade is well forged and balanced a true weapon that has been turned into a work of art. These are sometimes referred to as Palace Kukris. The exceptional quality is evident in all the small details the hilt, scabbard and mounts. I would date this piece late 19th century early 20th century.

This is something that we don’t encounter everyday. A short curved Kattar with a massive Point. 3/4 of the entire blade is all point, a massive armor piercing point. Over an 1/2 inch thick wow!! Another unique feature is the day and night motif. Half of the Kattar has gold the other half is left plane undecorated we see this unique feature in all the other examples of this type Kattar.

This is a rare and fine all steel Sirmoor Kukri. This example is very large and robust. It is superbly engraved In a flora motif with leaves. The fit and finish is spectacular, the Kukri locks into the scabbard with a very firm click, it is quite satisfying to feel it.The Kukri rest in the scabbard with zero movement! I would date this example to late 19th century early 20th century. Ex John Powell collection.

Here we have a wonderful example of a South Indian Rapier with a European blade most likely Portuguese. The striking feature of this sword in my opinion is the cross guard that is made out of a large steel disk that is slightly folded. This particular example is finely engraved on the bottom with a geometrical design. The blade is riveted to a pair of long langets ending in a kirtimukha. The iron hilt has two spirally hemisphere that make up the pommel. The thing that surprises me is how well balanced the sword is in hand. There is not much literature out there on how these swords where used in combat or where they more a status item. None the less this is a striking sword that is solid in construction for its age. I enclosed a photo of one in the Metropolitan Museum New York No. 36.24.1424 From Hindu Arms and Ritual Robert Elgood pg. 95

A very rare and interesting South Indian Rapier !6th century. The hilt design is unique with the egg within the cup look. The blade is more than likely 16th century or earlier Rapier blade from the Portuguese. These blades where quite likely the first European blades introduced to India. The guard is quite unique with a folded disc shape so elegantly forged and so thin. The two long langets have two opposing parrots at the base. The balance of the sword is very good, it feels great in hand.

A beautiful painted 18th century shield from Rajasthan made of translucent rhino hide. The motif is of animals amongst foliage and flowers. Tigers, Elephants and Deer also seems to be tree of life motif depicted as well. Four brass bosses with male figure.

I am pleased to share this very unique combination of a Chillanum and its bespoke scabbard. The all-steel dagger is from the Deccan under Mughal influences from the rule of Akbar the great (1542-1605) The dagger is textbook 16th century from its form of the hilt. This type dagger in my opinion is the most elegant of the Indian arsenal. The piece is very substantial in hand with great presence.Now for the scabbard, it is superbly made to fit this dagger. The all steel and silver scabbard is ingeniously fitted with a copper sleeve that holds the dagger securely without scratching the blade. The panels are engraved and embossed depicting a snow leopard.The scabbard is and was made in Nepal in the 19th century. Together they make a striking package. There are remnants of thick gold sheet that once covered this fine dagger and scabbard.

Am pleased to share these two fighting maces both Rajput and both early likely 17th century. At first glance they look almost identical but they are very different when we look at them closely. This mace has a hexagonal shaft the other is cylindrical . The blades on this mace head are thinner and more refined in my opinion . Also the detail is again a little more fancy, but all business none the less. This mace is about a quarter pound lighter. There is extensive signs of brazing done so I surmise working repairs done long ago. This and the robustness of the piece would indicate a true fighting mace. The piece is well balanced in hand. I was offered these as a pair from a notable collector, I am not sure that they started off as such but who knows?

Here we have mace No. 2 This mace is a bit more robust mainly in the head. The blades are slightly thicker and larger. The length of the piece is a quarter inch shorter than it’s brother but only because the tip of the bulbous top-finial has been broke off. There is also indication of repairs in the past a true fighting weapon! This shaft is cylindrical this theme is carried thought out the piece. Quite an impressive piece made even more so when displayed next to its brother!

This is a fine and early South Indian Pata with unusually long German blade.

This is quite an interesting spearhead. The two iron flanges that are turned down is of interest, very similar to European hunting spears for boar. The thicken point makes it quite deadly it would cause a large wound cavity. Who knows for sure? It is well made and highly decorated with dual Makara heads and carved floral themes. The blade is likely wootz.

This is a fantastic rig that I believe belonged to Alexander Maconochie, Lord Meadowbank . it is a very tastefully made dirk and buckle and belt by the well thought of company of R&H.B Kirkwood,66 &68 Thistle St. Edinburgh. The buckle bares the coat of arms for him. A fascinating part of Scottish history.

I am very pleased to share this rare and fine mace. This particular example is large at 32 1/4 inches in length. This all steel mace with Onion-shaped head and steel haft separated by raised steel bands to create a perfect two hand grip. The weight is superb on this large example at 2lbs 12 oz. It is easy to imagine this mace being put into service. The construction of the head is very robust and reinforced with 12 sword shaped protrusions that have a medial ridge, very deadly ! Most maces we encounter today are 19th century and are shorter and heavier. Those type where carried by the Chobdars and use in punishment not battle,so reach was not a concern or weight either. This piece is either Mughal or Rajput. There is four inscriptions on the mace two are in Devnagri script they have yet to be fully translated but I think it is maybe a date. The other two are from Bikaner with the word Likan meaning entry/record 235…the other is 414 I would surmise inventory numbers.

Update the Devnagri script is a date 1742 Vikram Samvat that equates to 1686 in our calendar.

This is a wonderful Bagh-Nakh (tigers claws) this one has a Bichhwa dagger blade that is serrated. The story goes that Shivaji used it to assassinate Afzal Khan in the 17th century . This weapons was used because it was small and easy to conceal. There is a almost identical one in Robert Hales Book Islamic and Oriental Arms and Armour page 75. Also there is another very similar one in the Science Museum in London. The construction of this piece is very fine and precise.

This Ankus is superbly constructed from the iron hook down to the furniture like fittings. The precision in the construction leads me to believe that this piece came from a wealthy household. This particular example is quite long at almost 43 inches.

This is a rare and unusual Dhal (shield) that has some intriguing features, for instance the single Boss is seldom seen in Indian Dhals. There is attributed single boss dhal to Guru Gobind Singh that is hide and black lacquered , but is much more conical in design and much later 19th century than this example. There is also an illustration in a manuscript “stars of the sciences” (Nujum-ul-Ulum) The dhal depicted there is very similar to this example, single Boss, black and gold color scheme and three lines around the circumference in gold. The manuscript was written around 1570 in Bijapur South India. The flavor of this dhal in my humble opinion is Southern. The dhal has great present and composition starting with the single Boss in brass, the design is very pleasing with its onion like shape with symmetrical lines. The fighting cocks and flowers are done in a thick gold lacquer with a sun burst radiating from under the boss. The three gold circles finish the design. The hide is well shaped and in excellent condition for its age.

This rare sword comes from the South of India more than likely Tanjore. 18th century or earlier. These are referred too as a Naya Temple Sword. This is a fine example in fine condition with most of its bells attached to the hilt, it also has little beads that rattle around in the hilt that are still present. The bells that attached to the blade are lost. The blade is well forged and with a flexible sharp blade. There is an inventory mark on the front langet.

This is a very large Turkish fighting axe . With a large Crescent shape blade with a massive surface, with a square and faceted hammer on the back end. The piece is well forged. The piece is void of any engraving or decorations, strictly all business. The shaft is a replacement .

A fine Indian plate and mail Armor of considerably above average condition. This was in a group of booty captured by Ahup Singh, Maharajah of Bikaner, General in the army of Emperor Aurangzeb, upon the defeat of the Adil-Shah dynasty at Bijapur in the Siege of the Adoni Fortress in 1689.

This is a fine Tulwar that is very early from the time of Akbar the great! Mughal rapier that was in the Bikaner Armory . It has been marked four times with the punch dot method. The hilt is covered in a thick sheet of silver, the blade appears to be of German manufacture well balanced with deep fullers and four makers marks a rare sword.

A fine axe coming out of the Bikaner armory. The axe head is superb in its simplicity a wootz panel is installed in the center of the axe head. There is a single cartouche with calligraphy ,I think it says trust in god.

This very fine piece has the mark ( tughra ) of The Sultan Ahmed III 1703-1736 on the blade this helps date this khanjar. We can surmise that this was made somewhere between 1703-1736. That being said it is possible that it was made a bit early and the tughra was added. The hilt is carved from fine walrus tusk. The blade is forged from fine Turkish wootz (Sham) steel. The scabbard is beautifully worked in silver. There is a small cartouche on the scabbard with an inscription that reads “The owner of Mortaza (Mortada) Dehm”. This has yet to be researched. These type of daggers are generally classified as court daggers.

This is a wonderful Persian Khanjar from the Qajar period (1789-1925) The hilt on this piece is intricately carved out of Walrus. The details are clean and fine the condition is superb. It was believed that the marble like inner part of the tusk is thought to help in wound healing. This being one of the reason for the extensive use of Walrus ivory in sword and dagger hilts.The blade is outstanding on this piece with the original polish still untouched. The Wootz is of high quality of good contrast and pattern. The piece overall is large at 16 1/2 inches.

A Magnifient chiseled Sipar from the Qajar period of convex shape richly inlaid with gold and silver. The chiseling is superb as is the condition. 98% of the gold remains.

A rare Persian/ Turkish Jarid (javelin) 18th Century ,Wrought entirely of steel, the head with armor piercing tip,the segmented haft with gold and silver inlaid panels and spiral grips. The quality of the gold and silver work is very high. Overall the workmanship is nothing short of stunning.

This Khanjar is stunning sheathed in sliver with Ottoman Tughra mark as well as seven zig-zag assay marks. it has a curved double-edge water steel blade with a medial ridge with gold overlay inscriptions 18th century .

A fine and robust Spear coming from South India. The two cross guards are done too mimic an elephants trunk. This I would think has to do with Ganesha. Simple lines belie the elegance of the piece.

This is a very fine bronze hilt done in a Zafar Takiya style with a zoomorphic theme of a makaras . The engraving is expertly done on the piece conveying a sense of elegance. A fine piece coming from the Deccan.

This fine Ayda Katti coming from The Coorg people of Malabar South West coast of India. This is a rare find these short sword or choppers are extremely difficult to obtain. This example is in pristine condition making it even Rarer! The workmanship is stunning on this one the crosshatching is as fine as a English rifle.The sickle Shape blade is masterfully forged without any flaws.

There is a lot of mystery around this axe head, I am not 100% sure on this type of axe head it is very heavy, massive it shows wear and signs of use. This particular Ram Dao is exceptional in its construction with a wide well forged blade. The blade has a swell in the middle section of the nose of the blade to facilitate a forward weight for sacrificing large animals such as buffalo.The handle is made of wood carved with a cross hatching style. The solid brass mount is fashioned into a single lotus-bud rising from a pair of leaves.This is symbolic of Kali in Nepal and in Bengal. In the two cartouches located on the top of the blade is a single inscription in Bengali Sri Sri Durga and Sri Sri Kali. Both are manifestations of the same goddess.No where in India is Kali more revered than Bengal.This is a rare and seldom encountered piece on the open market.

This is a rare form of tabar axe that is considered to be tribal.To me this form of Indian axe is most elegant in my humble opinion.I think that I am in good company with this assumption as the Persian ruler Shah Safi II (1629-42) has one that was inscribed in gold, it is in the Livrustkammaren, the Royal Armory, Stockholm.

This is a rare axe an early axe . This axe was once covered in sheet silver an early practice.This war axe can be classified as tribal. I think this design was taken formerly from the Mughals. This is just a guess! The construction and patina would suggest early again a guess. Nonetheless a impressive weapon.

Very fine and highly intriguing Bhuj Axe coming from the Kutch 19th century. In the hilt is concealed a knife or dagger, the haft is spiral twisted out of brass, there is a very interesting pattern punched engraving on the blade, magic box talisman and a flora theme. The pointing finger is an enigma.

This Matchu or sacrificial axe has a well craved Yali head at the base of the blade .This is a very early piece 18th century.Outstanding patina on the turned haft.

This is a very lovely Zagnal on a wooden haft with a three-quarter length metal tang attached by steel rivets with Diamond shaped washers. The blade is bright steel, slightly curved blade with thickened point. The carving is very charming especially the elephant. 18th/19th century.

This is a solid robust mace of great style and grace. This piece has a great presents in hand.There are many small nuances that are displayed in this mace. They are simple but nonetheless there is great beauty there.

This type club is tribal in nature. The Lohangi Kati was used by village watchman that patrol the streets .The shaft is ingeniously bound with iron to the mace.

This is an early and well made spear head . The blade is forged from fine Persian wootz. The socket is beautifuly faceted also made of wootz. The fullering is outstanding with quad edges making into an armor piercing point.The whole piece is very substantial.

Real fighting sword coming from Rajasthan with a scarf welded blade out of Indian wootz. There is an armory mark probably from Alwar armory, a big heavy robust blade.

Here we have a very nice Bichwa with a very nice brass handle. The parrot on the hilt represents the theme of Love and War . The parrot being the vehicle of Kama the god of love. It has a slender blade with a thicken point with two fullers. These daggers were small to be able to conceal them in a sleeve.
